Instructional Gymnastics Classes Offered

Tiny Tykes: (Ages 12 months - 24 months) This instructional 40-minute coed class is designed for a parent and a tyke. This class requires a parent to assist. We’ll be working on developing gross motor skills through movement and balance. Children will be using our recreational gymnastics equipment.

Tiny Tots: (Age 2 - 3y6m) This instructional 45-minute coed class is designed for a parent and tot and requires a parent to assist. We’ll be working on developing gross motor skills through movement and balance. To prepare the children for Sunshines, the parents will become less hands-on as they approach their 3rd birthday. The children will be using our recreational gymnastics equipment. 

Sunshines: (Age 3y6m-4y6m) This instructional 55-minute coed class is designed for children to work specifically on gymnastics skills by developing awareness and coordination without the assistance of parents. Children must be potty trained.

SuperStars: (Age 4y6m-5y6m) This instructional 55-minute coed class allows children to work on vaults, bars, beams, and floors. They will become more familiar with the positions and terms associated with gymnastics.

Hot Shots: This class meets two days a week for two hours. It will challenge students who exceed other class expectations and show advanced development. It is for ages 4-6 and by invitation only. It is a pre-team development class for ages 4-6!

Pre-Team (BUNDLE): This class meets twice weekly for two hours. Pre-Team is a recreational class for ages 7-9 that teaches the basics and conditioning needed to prepare gymnasts for the Team. Most gymnasts spend a year in this class and then have the opportunity to try out for the DMGC Team. It is a pre-team development class for ages 7-9!

Beginner I PREP Gymnastics: (Ages 5y6m-8y) Equivalent to a prep class for Level 1 – An entry-level class teaching basic principles of gymnastics. This Beginner I PREP class practices one hour per week.  This class is designed to be an introduction to gymnastics for students who are learning how to build their stamina.  This class is also intended to be a transition from the Preschool Gymnastics curriculum to the Recreation Program. 

Beginner I Gymnastics: Equivalent to Level 1 – An entry-level class teaching basic principles of gymnastics. This Beginner I class practices 90 minutes per week for gymnasts ages 8 and up.  This class is designed to be an introduction to gymnastics for students who have built their stamina. The gymnasts will have extended rotations on the events (vault, bars, beam, floor, tramp/tumble track) and spend more time developing their form.  

Beginner II Gymnastics: This class is equivalent to Level 2, the Beginning level of gymnastics. At this level, we work on skill progressions and develop mini routines. This Beginner II class practices two hours per week of regular gymnastics classes.  

Beginner III REC / Xcel Prep: Equivalent to Level 3 / Xcel Silver—Beginning level gymnastics. This level is designed for gymnasts working on Level 3 equivalent skills but will remain a non-competitive class. It is also for students working on the skills needed to join the Xcel team. This Beginner III REC / Xcel Prep class practices two hours per week of regular gymnastics classes.

Beginner Tumbling: We will continue to focus on the perfection of level 1 skills and also focus on cartwheel variations, handstands, round-offs, crabwalks (Backbend), and an introduction to front/back limbers, working up to back handsprings!

Tumbling classes are 60-minute coed classes that focus only on tumbling skills. Students will utilize the trampoline/tumble track to advance their skills. Tumbling classes are ideal for cheerleaders, gymnasts, and youth who want to focus on tumbling progression and improve their current technique.  

Tumbling II continues to focus on perfecting Tumbling II skills, with additional focus on standing backbends, front/back limbers and walkovers, round-offs, handstands and tick-tocks, and an introduction to front/back limbers—connections to round-off back handsprings and starting back tucks.

Tumbling classes are 60-minute coed classes that focus only on tumbling skills. Students advance their skills by using the trampoline/tumble track. Tumbling classes are ideal for cheerleaders, gymnasts, and youth who want to focus on tumbling progression and improve upon current techniques. 

Advanced Tumbling: continues to focus on improving current skills with an additional focus on progression. Tumbling classes are 60-minute coed classes that focus only on tumbling skills. Students advance their skills by using the trampoline/tumble track. Tumbling classes are ideal for cheerleaders, gymnasts, and youth who want to focus on tumbling progression and improve upon current techniques.  

Advanced Gymnastics 20-Hour-a-Week Program: This class is created to perfect existing skills, learn new skills, and work on basic principles of gymnastics to prepare for a high level of gymnastics done cleanly in preparation for higher-level competitive gymnastics and to also work towards collegiate scholarship. This is a unique 20-hour-a-week class with highly dedicated gymnasts with excellent attitudes willing to work hard, make sacrifices, improve their technique/basics/form, and aspire to be the best they can be in the sport at their highest potential. This level is a skill level of 8, 9, 10 only — or a fast track training program for talented gymnasts level 6-8.

Required practice is five days a week for around 20 hours. In this class, we work on developing skills for the high school and collegiate gymnastics programs. If you’d like to improve your skills to compete at the higher levels one day, this class is excellent. “In-house” competitions will typically take place in November. Dominique Moceanu coaches this class full-time with dedicated lesson plans and daily structure. 

Spending time in the developmental phase is critical in creating the best gymnast possible. In this class, we focus on the full-rounded development of your children. This 20-hour-a-week program includes 17 hours of gymnastics time, a power yoga class taught by Dominique, a restorative yin yoga class with another yoga instructor, plus a one-hour dance class once a week. This program is by invitation only.

Xcel Silver Gymnastics: This class will be a part of our competitive program and will train about 9 hours a week.

Xcel Gold/Platinum Gymnastics: This class will be a part of our competitive program and will train about 12 hours a week.

Fitness, Flips, and Fun! Fitness, Flips, and Fun is a coed class for students ages 6 and up.  This class is designed to help the students with their fitness levels, coordination, strength/conditioning, and agility.  All events include Floor, Beam, Bars, Vault, Rings, Pommel Horse, Parallel Bars, Tumble Track, and Trampoline.  The equipment will be used in fun and unconventional ways to challenge the student's physical abilities.  This class will also incorporate elements of obstacle courses, Ninja style courses, Parkour, challenges, and games.  Fitness, Flips, and Fun is recommended as an add-on to your current Recreational class, as the students will gain strength and abilities to help them reach their gymnastics goals.
